The short answer is no, you should not skip the home inspection.

A home inspection is a crucial part of the real estate process: it will allow you to identify and fix problems with your new home before you move in, so that you don't have to deal with them later. It also gives you an opportunity to learn more about the property and to confirm that it meets your needs.

When you buy a house, there are dozens of things that could go wrong—and even if they don't break right away, they may break in the future. For example, if your basement floods easily due to poor drainage and flooding occurs frequently in the area, then this is probably not a good place for your home.

A home inspector will be able to tell you if there are any issues like this with your prospective property before you buy it—and if there are, he or she can help guide you through how to address them.
